Information for Expressions of Interest (EOI)

The City of Adelaide is establishing its next Access and Inclusion Advisory Panel (AIAP) to provide expert advice to improve access and inclusion. This will be the third AIAP group, after the first AIAP was established in 2013.

Your expertise in the disability sector gained as a person with disability, family member or carer, worker or academic will help to inform actions to achieve the outcomes of the City of Adelaide (currently draft), (Disability) Access and Inclusion Plan 2019-2022.

The role of the AIAP is to:

Provide strategic, expert and impartial advice to the Administration on the development, implementation, monitoring and review of policies, strategies, projects and plans with the aim to advance the inclusion of people with disability”.

Full details of the role and functions of the AIAP are provided in the Terms of Reference.

What is the commitment required of AIAP members?

If successful, individual AIAP members will be asked to commit to a two-year membership, with a right to be reappointed for a further year. Individuals may be members for up to a maximum of three years. The AIAP will meet at least four times a year on dates and at places to be set out in advance for each year. Meetings are likely to be two hours long at a minimum and four hours at a maximum.

Will I get paid for my time?

Individual AIAP members will be paid a sitting fee for each official meeting they attend in recognition of their commitment of time and expertise. Individual AIAP members will also be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses incurred by attending meetings such as payment for a support worker or transport expenses.

When will the AIAP start meeting?

An induction session is scheduled to occur on 27 March 2019, with the first meeting to be held on 15 May 2019. These dates will be confirmed with success applicants.

How will the AIAP be selected?

Individuals who would like to be considered for membership of the AIAP must submit an expression of interest including their CV and a cover letter outlining how they meet the selection criteria (section 8) of the Terms of Reference.

Applications will be considered along with others so that collectively the AIAP has a broad range of expertise.

Expressions of interest will be assessed initially by Council Administration. Following this assessment, the City of Adelaide’s Executive Leadership Group (or nominee) will make the final selection of AIAP members.

How do I apply?

Please submit an expression of interest which includes your CV and a cover letter outlining how you meet the selection criteria (section 8) of the Terms of Reference. Expressions of interest are due to the City of Adelaide by 5pm, Friday 8 February 2019. Submit your expression of interest on City of Adelaide’s recruitment site linked here:
